Common Ground Red Wing offers educational programs that are open for enrollment by the public. Our classes are designed to help individuals grow in specific areas, including chemical education and support groups for teens and youth, and support for concerned family members.
Teen and Youth Education Program
Peer connections are crucial to recovery, especially for young people. That's why we offer drug abuse support groups for youth age 12-17, where adolescents can find encouragement, guidance, and love from others who have walked a similar path. Quitting drugs, alcohol, or other high-risk behaviors is hard work, especially for teenagers who are subjected to a near constant stream of messages on a day-to-day basis from social media, entertainment outlets, and their peers.
Our support groups for teens are ideal for:
Youth with substance abuse issues who need an alternative peer group to develop a new, sober lifestyle
Teens who are participating in an Aftercare program after leaving a treatment center environment
Teens who need to quit drugs and alcohol but don’t necessarily need a full treatment program or higher level of care
Our goal is that every teen we meet will be able to:
Build a new peer support system that they can rely on
Develop positive emotional coping skills to navigate life successfully without drugs and alcohol
We know how challenging it can be for teens to build a sober peer support system after recovering from substance abuse, which is why we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment to support their recovery.
Family component
Drug use not only affects the individual, but also their loved ones. That's why we also offer individual sessions to help parents understand substance abuse and support their teenager in their recovery program.
Recovery is not a solo journey, and our goal is to provide a supportive community every step of the way.
Experienced staff facilitation
The role of our staff is to provide guidance and support as teens navigate their journey towards sobriety. Our staff facilitate all meetings and are available to make referrals to higher levels of care or therapy if needed.
Contact us if you are looking for a program that offers a place where teens can get together to try to look into and change behaviors that hurt themselves and others such as smoking, drinking, fighting and using drugs.
