Admira started with Common Ground as an intern in January of 2018.  Once she completed her internship, she was hired on as a primary counselor and assessor. Admira currently co-facilitates the Rochester Men’s morning and evening Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient groups.  She attended college through RCTC and Winona State University and will also be a Licensed Social Worker in the coming months.

We sat down with Admira to learn more about her work and passion for the field:

What’s your favorite thing about Common Ground?

One of my favorite things about Common Ground is how welcoming, experienced and humbling my co-workers are.

What advice would you give to someone struggling with addiction today?

My advice is to reach out to your support network, know that you are not alone and there is hope. Asking for help is sometimes the hardest decision but realizing that there are people who care about you and that you care for is an important part, as well.

Why are you passionate about working in the treatment environment?

Addiction has impacted all of us at some point and time — I enjoy being a guide and advocate for people.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time with my family — especially my super cute niece! I love watching horror movies, documentaries and listening to music.

Favorite words of wisdom?

“I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.”

Common Ground offers outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and sober housing in Rochester, Red Wing, and Winona, MN. To learn more or to schedule an intake, contact us today.
