NEWS RELEASE: Common Ground to Hold Community Forum for Future Halfway House in Winona, MN

WINONA, Minn. (May 18, 2016) — Common Ground, a substance abuse treatment facility with locations in Rochester and Winona, MN plans to open a halfway house in Winona, MN this summer. Serving adult males in Winona County, the home will be the only sober living facility in all of Winona County. The home is slated to open in the summer of 2016 and will house 16 men and will employ 9 staff. Common Ground CEO, Mattea Schmitz states “On behalf of Common Ground, we look forward to continuing our presence in Winona and are confident the opening of the home will help make our community healthier and more effective for those recovering from addiction.”

Common Ground opened an outpatient treatment center in Winona, MN in August 2014 serving adult men and women on their journey towards recovery from substance use disorder. The agency provides chemical use assessments, alcohol and drug education classes, brief treatment, and gender-specific outpatient treatment. Since opening their doors, Common Ground has served over 100 people in Winona recovering from substance use disorder and employs 3 staff.

Common Ground is hosting an open community forum at the Riverport Inn in Winona, MN on Thursday, June 2nd from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will include a presentation, panel Q&A, and a meal served at 4:30 p.m. There will be time to interact with the agency’s leadership and counseling staff to inquire and learn more about the future recovery house opening up in summer 2016. 

All interested community members are invited to attend this event, and all questions are welcome. Common Ground looks forward to continuing their commitment to meeting all clients where they are in their journey of recovering from addiction, and hopes to continue making a significant impact in Winona County.
