Common Ground Grand Re-Opening – Outpatient Treatment Center in Red Wing— March 12th, 2p-5p

Common Ground has been serving the Red Wing community since 2016. During that time, we’ve been able to assist hundreds of people on their journeys towards recovery by providing a safe environment and supportive recovery programming.

Red Wing is a small community with much to offer its residents. Still, there are needs to be met for those who are struggling with substance use disorder, and because of these needs, Common Ground is looking forward to our continued existence and expansion to the community. Please join us on March 12th, anytime between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, for an open house event taking place at 111 Hill Street in Red Wing. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing more.

“Our motto is ‘meeting you where you are,’ and we carry that value through to all that we do,” CEO Mattea McGuire says. “We look forward to continue supporting those in the Red Wing community and want to bring the hope of recovery to anyone struggling with substance use disorder.”

Common Ground outpatient facility went through an interior remodel in December and reopened to group and individual programming on January 3rd, 2025. The programs available, include peer recovery support, adolescent support, chemical use assessments, and individual and outpatient group therapy, led by licensed alcohol and drug counselors (LADC) who are compassionate and dedicated to serving all clients. At a separate Red Wing residential location there is also sober lodging available to clients in need of safe and supportive housing while attending our programs.

“No matter where you’re at in your journey, Common Ground is ready to help you,” says Tara Markus, Common Ground’s Program Director. “We are proud to have acquired 2 additional counselors, Jodie Weiss and John Hansen, whom both have extensive history providing comprehensive care in the Red Wing community.”

Other updates include Common Ground being awarded a Goodhue County OSAC grant in the amount of $65,000. This grant allows a Common Ground Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to work alongside non program participants. They focus on providing support and guidance to individuals recovering from substance use disorders by sharing their own lived experiences, helping them develop personalized recovery plans, connecting them to community resources, and facilitating peer-to-peer connections, all while promoting a sense of hope and empowerment throughout the recovery journey. The (CPRS) is also able to respond to crisis situations from the local hospital or police station to assist someone in need of resources such as securing a bed in a residential program. The grant also allowed for the purchase of a CPRS vehicle to aide in transportation to community appointments, delivering NARCAN (a treatment designed to rapidly reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency), accessing food, and transportation to and from recovery meetings and treatment. Thank you Goodhue County Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee for a truly remarkable gift to the community.
